Ethiopia is one of the world’s most significant centres of origin – a biodiversity hotspot. In the northern Wollo region of Ethiopia – the country’s sorghum breadbasket – USC’s ground-breaking Seeds of Survival program is working with farmers to launch a very special new community seed bank complex.
Farmers in Ethiopia already have the time-tested knowledge and skills crucial to maintaining crop diversity – the foundation of a secure food supply. The Wollo seed bank will help ensure that foundation remains strong.
