Mali Farmers want Focus on Local Seeds

Farmers in Mali have called on government and policy makers to focus on improving local crops and seeds and more local collaboration between farmers and agricultural researchers. Echoing a similar process of citizen input and findings in India last year, Malian farmers’ juries called for more research that considers the complex environment of local farmign systems.
They expressed concerns about policies and practices that would diminish control over their natural resources, leaving them vulnerable and dependent on introduced seed supplies. Read the full story posted by the Science and Development Network.
