Lotta Hitschmanova Legacy Fund

To honour USC Canada’s founder, Dr. Lotta Hitschmanova, and to allow her legacy to carry on for generations, USC created a fund in her name – the Lotta Hitschmanova Legacy Fund.

Each year, caring Canadians generously make provisions in their wills for a legacy gift to USC. Once received, these gifts are deposited in the Legacy Fund, where they are prudently managed and invested to generate income.

Who manages the Legacy Fund?

The Legacy Fund is carefully managed by the USC Foundation, which is governed by a Board of Directors directly appointed by and accountable to USC Canada.

The Foundation’s purpose is to ensure that USC Canada has the financial stability essential for supporting communities in partner countries for years to come. Each year, a grant from the USC Foundation is made to USC Canada, so that its vital programs can be sustained for the long-term benefit of men, women and children in the developing world.

See USC’s Annual Report for the most recent financial information.

Do I have to include my wish to leave a gift to USC in my will?

To be certain that USC receives the gift, you should state your intention in your will. Without a will, we lose control over our belongings after death, and our property and finances will be settled according to government laws, whether or not they coincide with our wishes.

Thank you for being part of Dr. Lotta’s legacy.

If you are considering a bequest, we at USC encourage you to consult an independent financial advisor or lawyer to be sure that provisions are made for your own care, as well as your loved ones.
