Africa
In Africa, USC is currently supporting local development initiatives in Ethiopia, Mali, and Burkina Faso. We provide support to farmers, community organizations, and public institutions in those countries, carrying out programs that are aimed at promoting locally adapted seed supply systems as a key condition for achieving food sovereignty.
Program Areas
All of USC’s programs in Africa are centred around sustainable agriculture initiatives; promoting food sovereignty through the Seeds of Survival framework. As part of that program, We also promotes farmer exchanges and international training to provide opportunities for learning on the invaluable knowledge that farmers have integrated for generations.

In the future, USC’s work in Africa will be more regionally focused in Western and Eastern Africa, since many of the issues related to agriculture can be much better addressed at the regional level.
