Asia

Currently, we are running initiatives in five countries in Asia. In India, Indonesia, and Nepal, we work with autonomous nationally based development organizations. We also maintain two field offices, in Bangladesh and Timor Leste, where our staff carry out a variety of local development initiatives.

Program Areas

In Bangladesh, USC has been focusing on adolescent programming. USC Bangladesh works primarily with disadvantaged and exploited teenagers (about 80% girls and 20% boys), providing them with basic literacy and life skills training. USC also support organizations that provide services and are involved in advocacy on the issues of violence against women and human trafficking.

Programs in Nepal and Indonesia are geared towards building and strengthening civil society organizations, ensuring that citizens have greater control over their destinies.

Agriculture is so central to the livelihood of the poor in all the countries where USC works that we support farmer-based agro-biodiversity activities everywhere, using the experience built through the Seeds of Survival program, to promote food sovereignty.
