Latin America

In Latin America, USC Canada currently supports the work of farmers in Honduras, Bolivia,and Cuba. Our programs in Latin America are focused on agriculture work:

  • Building farmers’ capacity to solve their own problems by doing agricultural research and sharing the results within their communities
  • Promoting seed conservation and seed exchanges
  • Developing an organic agriculture that preserves the local biodiversity
  • Ensuring food security.

Farmers participating in USC Latin American program are involved in a wide-range of community development projects that include

  • Improving watershed management
  • Creating community vegetable gardens
  • Organizing training and farmer exchanges
  • Fostering community seed and gene banks
  • Transforming and commercializing farmer’s production
