Latin America
In Latin America, USC Canada currently supports the work of farmers in Honduras, Bolivia,and Cuba. Our programs in Latin America are focused on agriculture work:
- Building farmers’ capacity to solve their own problems by doing agricultural research and sharing the results within their communities
- Promoting seed conservation and seed exchanges
- Developing an organic agriculture that preserves the local biodiversity
- Ensuring food security.
Farmers participating in USC Latin American program are involved in a wide-range of community development projects that include
- Improving watershed management
- Creating community vegetable gardens
- Organizing training and farmer exchanges
- Fostering community seed and gene banks
- Transforming and commercializing farmer’s production
