Hope Seeds & Perennials (HSP) is based in the well-kept secret of Knowlesville, NB. Many of their seeds have been traced back to seed catalogues from the late 1800’s. Their seeds are all open-pollinated and they encourage you to save seeds for next year and share with friends.

Planting Instructions
65 days to full size, this is another French heirloom noted by Vilmorin in 1885. Cracoviensis has a unique purple colour with a lime-green heart, and longer leaves. It certainly stands out in the crowd! This variety tends to bolt a little sooner than others, but leaves remain tender and non-bitter the whole time.

Begin sowing as early as 3-4 weeks before last frost. Seeds should be sown shallow, covered with a light layer of soil. Plant every few weeks for continual harvest throughout season. Lettuce takes approximately 8 weeks to mature, from seed to full head. Alternately you can begin snipping young leaves off lettuce after three weeks. Harvest no more than one-third of plant at a time, for cut-and-come-again culture.
