Planting Instructions
Russian Red Kale
- Purple/red stems with flat gray green oak leaf shaped leaves. Use steamed, sauteed, or raw in salads. Tenderest of kales, Russian Red is super sweet after a touch of frost. Great sauteed with oil and garlic, and an extra bonus of delicious tender flower buds to steam up in the spring. Direct seed 1/2 inch deep and 4 inch apart. Thin to 15-18 inches between plants. Sow seed from early March to mid August. Sow densely for cut and come again. Will overwinter on the West Coast.
